Kittybybye- No. pItts do not have an enzyme that makes them attack. And the reason you see them on the news all the time is bc they are a extreml;y popular dog in america. And people raise them to be mean that way. Just think about it, there are only about 5 pitt cases a week. But there are billions of people who own them. Its the stupid ppl who own the dog.

Hi Christina, Oh my,!!!!! Quite a few people in my family owns these dangerous dog!!!!! Just kidding!!!! I don't think any individual breed of dog is dangerous. Humans are the dangerous breed!!! I currently have three Dobermans (my favorite breed) and I simply love them. My daughter has three Pitts, being raised in the house with my two granddaughters that are ages 3&4, since the oldest was born. My brother has a Boxer. ALL seven of these dogs are precious, loving and very affectionate dogs!!! Now if someone was to attempt to harm anyone in either household, then the intruder may consider them to be dangerous, but they are just going to protect the ones they love with their life!!!! Many years ago before I fell in love with the Doberman Pinschers I had a white German Shepherd and he too was an excellent dog. People consider certain breeds of dogs vicious or dangerous simply out of ignorance!!!! Most who judge have no idea about the specific breed.

Lol! There is really no dangerous breed of dog! A dog only becomes what it's owner makes of it. I have a boxer that is the most friendly dog in the world. Loves people stranger or not. I also have a pit that is the same way. You can easily train a dog to be friendly, protective and loyal, or just plain mean. It's dumb that states are banning certain breeds because owners like to fight them, or train them to be mean. It's not the dogs fault at all. Pits are popular because they are one of the most athletic dogs that exist. They build muscle really well! I actually read an article from a vet that said he has never had a bad experience with a pit, But a golden Retriever almost tore his hands up. That's all I really have to say on the subject. Dogs do have different personalties of their own but if the owner trains well then no matter what breed of dog they have it should come out to be an all aroud great dog ;) My next door neighbor also has a pit and the first time I met it, he was very kind and playful!

I have a doberman and a boxer, both females. My doberman is almost 2, & she is so sweet! She is a lap dog, and a constant companion for me. Nothing mean about her. I will never own any other breed. My boxer was sort of dumped on me, bad as that sounds, but she is 8, and also a big, cuddly baby. Both are extremely well behaved, but i do believe that dobermans are a more intelligent breed, especially as far as thinking and acting on their own goes. my best friend has had 2 rottweilers in the 11 years i have known her, 1 for the last 10 of them. Both were about 10 years old when they had to be put down, due to several health problems (hip/joints got so bad they couldn't walk anymore). But they were the friendliest animals. I had a friend w/a guard dog that was chained up for the 1st 4 years of her life, until he got her. She was wary of people and scared me a few times just by the way she watched me, but he went to prison a few years later, & by that time, she was an absolute joy to have around, so she moved in w/me until his grandma could come get her. Smart, smart dogs. If I had to pick a breed other than a doberman, it would be a rottweiler, for sure. Pit bulls, I say it is the owners creating the bad dogs, and possibly instinct that just can't be totally bred out of them, but can easily be dealt w/by good training. All dogs are bred for a reason, but you would never think boxers were fighting dogs by meeting mine! I believe it's all in the owners, that any dog can bite or kill. Maybe we just don't hear the stories about a kid getting attacked by a chihuahua, scottish terrier or other less "dangerous" breeds. I have been bitten by a weiner dog, and a pomeranian. But nobody is gonna call the police or animal control to have them put down, as they most likely would if it were a dobie, rottweiler, etc. It's unfair, to say the least.

My opinion on all the breeds listed and any other breed on the list is there is absolutely nothing wrong with the breed of dog except the people that own them. Not all breeds of dog are suited for all people and people get dogs because of how they look or for status. Research should be done before getting a dog but because we live in a disposable society nobody cares.
I own two dogs that are on the list and they are both registered therapy dogs but because of ignorance and stupidity someday my breed of choice will not be admitted into hospitals or nursing homes. People will be afraid of my dogs if they have a muzzle on and a tag that reads dangerous dog.
How sad that people have gotten so lazy that certain breeds of dog are becoming threatened and people do not realize that this ignorance will eventually end up with all dogs on the dangerous list. When this happens the only place we will be able to see dogs will be in the zoo with the rest of the dangerous animals.

The only dog I would say is dangerous is the owner of one who has not properly trained their animal. All dogs can be what ever we train them to be from Pitt's to a Labradore. With proper care and training there is no dangerous dog.
I had a Kelpie who seemingly are known for aggression, she was a princess, most loving and adorable and she was taken at 18 months to cancer. I miss her very much.
I now have a Staffie x lab 8 months old who we rescued from the pound 1 month ago. When we got her she was very timid as she had been tied and left outside (to a tree) She was under fed and seemed very scared. it is amazing what 1 month and love, care and attention can do, no one would ever think she was the same dog. She is playful, she respects us (and we do her) She can be very cheeky and very sociable with other dogs. She goes to the beach 4 times a week and loves to swim, she loves playing with other dogs.. We are blessed and we are only blessed because we started the training while walking her out of that pound. We are the masters and she is our loving pet. (she still has a few problems but time will fix them, they are nothing major)
So answering your question again, there are no dangerous dogs, only the ones who are trained to be dangerous by the OWNERS.

Rotts are especially protective of their owners, which is how they get a bad rap. They sometime protect their "person" from people who simply get too close by accident, and they're large and powerful enough to cause a lot of damage. Thats the only problems I've seen with rotts, and its certainly not all rotts. Pitts are a different story, I think everyone is fully aware of how dangerous a pitt can be. There are good ones I know, but personally, I have kids so would never adopt a pitt, cause all my animals come from a shelter and I wouldn't know the dog's parents history as to whether or not they were used for fighting. Many times with pitts its not people they go after, its other dogs because they've been trained to do that and the people get hurt tring to break up the fights. Other times, they just seem to attack for no reason, but I'm guessing that has more to do with the owners than the dogs.
Dobermans, German Shepherds and Boxers I don't consider dangerous dogs. Dobies and Shepherds got that reputation when they were used as guard dogs, which were basically beaten and abused in order to make them mean. I've never seen a mean Dobie or Shepherd. My friend had a Doberman that use to sit by my son's crib when she babysat and return his bottle to him when he dropped it. Shepherds are my favorite breed, they're smart, and for some reason, extremely maternal, even the males, with puppies and kittens. My Shepherd found a baby squirrel who'd fallen from the tree and tried to nurse it, till we got it from her and returned it to the mom, she tried to nurse a baby rabbit that spooked during a storm, until we put it back in the yard and the mom came for it. She nursed our kittens (no milk of course, she was spayed, but she gave it her best shot) and even mothered the baby skunk I bottle fed. So yeah, I'm fond of Shepherds. I've noticed on Animal Planet "Growing up baby whatever" shows that its usually Shepherds that the people who are raising wild baby animals use to raise the babies. For some reason, they're just natural nurturers.
I've never heard of Boxers being considered dangerous, so have no comment on that at all.
A truly dangerous dog is a wolf hyprid. When you take the intelligence and strength of the wolf and mix it with dog, who has no fear of humans, you've got yourself a dangerous animal. It's cruel for people to breed them, they don't fit in either category, and its unfair. A lot of their aggression is simply their natural alpha dominance, which can be deadly for dogs and humans. Some things should be left alone, such as species intermingling. Wolves are my favorite wild creature, and they should remain that way, wild.
The only truly "dangerous" dogs I've even encountered are the little yippy ones. Don't know why, but some of those small breeds are just horrible.

I had a doberman and she was stupid, not scary. I didn't realize that boxers were on the "dangerous" list, but they are cute little things. Currently, I own a pit, a chow mix and a bull mastiff. They all get along find and the pit is a big baby that loves EVERYbody....as long as they pet him. I think "dangerous breed" is an unfair catagorization, because dogs are what they are brought up to be.....just my opinion, but I've had dogs all my life and none have been mean, regardless of the breed.

I'm glad you love them, but why would you pose the question by labeling them as dangerous dogs?
All dogs have teeth, and therefore, all dogs are 'technically' dangerous. But from my experience working at the SPCA, at pet shops, and as a groomer, there is no single breed that is dangerous. Poor training and ignorant owners create dangerous dogs of any size, breed, or gender.
I have bathed intact male pit bulls and had them lick my face the entire time.
I have also had holes bitten through my hands by a Maltese puppy who's owners decided to treat it like a baby instead of a dog.
The media is guilty of hyping up 'dangerous' breeds by refusing to report any attacks or incidents that involve a breed that is not typically stereotyped. People need to remember that the media is out to make money too, and more people will read about a pit bull attack than a beagle or labrador attack. BUT IT DOES HAPPEN!!
I have been bitten by all manner of dogs, but strangely enough, never by any of these so called 'dangerous' breeds. Rotties, dobies, pits, staffies, chows, boxers, shepherds, and so forth- not a bite. What are the most common breeds I HAVE been bitten by? Shih tzus, yorkies, toy poodles, cocker spaniels, malteses, min pins, chihuahuas, and any other breed that spends more time being pampered than learning manners.
People need to WAKE UP. Dogs are dogs, treat them like dogs. Love them, train them, care for them, but for crying out loud back away from the dog purse and get a life. That dog is not your new child now that the kids have grown up, and all you are doing is confusing and tormenting the poor thing by not letting it be what it really is. And owners of 'dangerous' breeds: If you're raising and training well mannered dogs, kudos to you, keep being an ambassador for these wonderful breeds. If you're the owner of one of the problem dogs we see on the news, shame on you. Whether you just didn't know better or are an ignorant SOB who doesn't deserve to own a dog, stop ruining the lives of these dogs already!
Well that's my rant anyway. But to the critics of these breeds: Allow me to laugh when that cocker spaniel bites the hell out of your child. I'm going to go let my kid play with a rottie, and somehow, I think he'll come off better than yours.

The only dog I would say is dangerous is the pitt. I heard that they have an enzyme that makes them attack or something. Even if this is not the case, these are the dogs most known for their vicious characteristics and are on the news all the time for their behavior. I would suggest not getting them from shelters but instead when they are puppies (IF you must get one). I wouldn't consider any other of the breeds mentioned dangerous. I only heard that about the pitts all other dogs I think it depends on the owners.
