Hello all, this is sort of a long story but basically this girl i know and I have tried dating in the past, jsut weird things came up like misinteriptations, or we were both really busy or stupid stuff like that and we never really hit it off for too long. Now she tells me that she really likes me, like alot. However when we tried dating things never seemed to work out real well. Now this is the part im concerned about. I recently asked her to prom this week after she told me she really liked me, and she of course said yes, kissed and hugged me. Now i dont know if she is jsut using me to get me to take her to prom because shes only a sophmore anyways, or if she genuinly likes me. Also she like never talks to me/notices me in the halls after i asked her. Also She announced she was going prom dress shopping a day after i asked her, so it seems like all she cares about is going to prom instead of going with ME! help, any suggestons/analysis of the situation appreciated!

I'm going to be completely honest, because I once was a sophmore girl too...
Since she told you she liked you before you asked her to go to prom with you, then chances are she does want to go with you. However, prom is an exciting thing, expecially for a girl who is being asked by an older guy. She may just be overly excited about going to prom, but I think she still wants to go with you. I know that when I got asked to prom, I went shopping for a dress that same weekend. I was so excited to be going with a guy that I really liked.
As for her not talking to you in the halls, well... me and my boyfriend have a great relationship.. but in school we don't really talk that much in the halls, unless he is walking me to my class. Like if I see him walk by, I'm not about to go out of my way to talk to him, just because it's not nessecary. But out of school, you can't pull us apart.
I read somewhere once that people who show a lot of PDA (public display of affection.. just incase you didn't know lol) have something to hide. They have to prove to other people that they are alright, when really, they probably aren't. It could just be a sign that she doesn't have to prove anything to anyone.
Talk to her though, tell her that you would like it if she talked to you in the halls every once and a while. Or try walking her to her next class.
If she starts not calling you, talking to you, wanting to hang out..ect... then you might just want to assume she's using you. In that case, just tell her that you decided you don't want to go to prom with her anymore. It's best you just tell her upfront instead of lying and saying you aren't going when you really are because she will find out one way or another and will end up more hurt.

Why dont u just ask her? Or try to talk to her friends (the girl ones). Dude, if ur really concerned about this then talk to her, dont be intimidated or anything. If u dont trust her and it gets out of hand just go to the prom w/ a friend, that way u will know that you'll have a good time. Just blow her off??!!!.....yeah, u said she's only a sophmore, so its not like ur ruining her life. I dont know man, girls are wierd. Hope it helped.

Sounds like a user! But not a really bad user. A really bad user would've had you buy her prom dress, too. I'd just go to the prom and enjoy it...without expecting anything serious to happen.

Yup thats definitely it. When you said, "she like never talks to me/notices me in the halls" I know she's just happy to be at prom. What does she know? She's only a sophomore. She's a youngin and she just wants to feel excepted b/c she's one of the few underclassmen going to it. So I would say that she probably doesn't genuinely like you. She's just glad you ask her to prom.

I would be very concerned if she doesn't talk to you in the halls. She notices you, but she is choosing not to talk to you. This is not healthy and you deserve better!!! If you wish to go to the prom with her, that's fine if it makes you happy, but I would be very careful and distance yourself after the prom if she is continually ignoring you.

Sounds like you hit the nail on the head buddy. Seems like she is excited to be going to the prom. Not nesicarily that she is going with you.

Well prom is a big deal to any girl. Of course she's excited to go to prom. As far as using you - I think it's far too early to determine that.

hmm, i don't know, its not very nice that she doesn't say hi in the halls, that sounds a little wierd. she sounds fishy. i knew this guy who totally had this whole plan on how to ditch his date at WF, and i was just like wow, his date will be very depressed, i didn't know his date, i couldn't tell her or help her, but i don't know, maybe have a backup plan or something just in case, make sure some of your other gil friends are going single so at least ifshe ignores you, you can have someone to dance with.
but i agree that it might be early to tell, but it doesn't sound like you guys are off to a good start if she won't even say his to you, but if she likes you, hmm, that's tough.
