Hi there. Be sure the nest box is made for parakeets. She may not have reached sexual maturity yet or she is not interested in her appointed mate. Compatibility is a major factor among most animals. Provide nesting material in a corner of the cage. If you put it in the box, she probably won't touch it. Feed them a great pellet food, 10%seed, 10-20% fruits and veggies and add chopped cooked chicken egg for the extra calcium, protein, and nutrients. Some sources feel that good nutrition may also prevent egg binding. Patience and time. Have a tweet year.

Wll, I ahve only bred my budgies once. It isn't the female who dose it first. Make sure never run out of food, and they always have clean water, and there cage if up agiast the call, but a corner of the room is best. When the time is right, the male will pick out the box, and personalize it to his likeing, then he'll invite the female in, and hopefully she'll like it, if she dosen't a makeover of the nest. You should try doing the same thing with the male, to make sure they see it.

First, take the food out of the box.

What type of bedding do you have in there? If it is empty, try putting about 2" of pine bedding in there, the kind you purchase for rodents.

She may not like something about the box, have you tried giving another for her to choose from? That way, she feels like she chose the nesting site.

Good luck!
