When does a male dog usually lift up his leg to pee, for the first time?

I think it depends on the dog.I've had some who started at 6 mos. and others like the one I have now that did'nt attempt it until he was almost one yr.He's 2 and1/2 now and still does'nt lift his leg every time.But our other male at 4 and 1/2 rarely lifts his.He's neutered and has bad hips so it's probably uncomfortable for him to do so.
The younger of the 2 has killed several small trees and other plants peeing on them so I'd actually prefer that they never lifted that leg.

Usually by 7 or 8 months. If they're around other male dogs it is sooner.I have had some male dogs that took longer.
