...that most people who have changed religions/beliefs from what they were taught as a kid, were Christian?

So why is it that Christians here feel the need to spread their religion? It isn't like you are going to say much that most people who are of different religion/beliefs (including myself) haven't already heard.

It's true. I used to be a Christian and I know it's not for me. Same for my husband. It's not like we're from some other planet and have never experienced Christianity.

I think that you might just be noticing something identifiable. People who didn't believe in anything and then come to believe in something can't really be said to have changed their religion or beliefs. However, it is very clear when someone turns away from Christianity because they often have to replace it with something. As far as why Christians "spread their religion," I think it's called the Great Commission and it was mandated by God. Maybe you won't change, but many do.

I'm sorry If anything I say after this sentence offends anyone.

I am a christian. I believe in God, Jesus, Heaven, and all that other good stuff.

Not ALL Christians feel the need to Spread their religion to everyone.

I agree with... somone who posted before me, These over endowed, Overly religious, I'm mighter than though people who believe that everything has to be good and no sin is blah Blah BLAH need to get a life.

Yes, I've noticed that most people who have changed their beleifs were christians as children. Thats because their parents were christians.....duh. I mean a child who always does one certain thing a certain way, has done it b/c that kid lerned it from someone "important" to them in their life.
Please, get over the holier than though crap. You do your thing and I respect that VERY much. I'll do mine.

Keep two things in mind.

1. Most of the posters are from Christian cultures. Most people I know are. So I certainly know more ex-Christians than ex-Hindus etc. because I live in the southern US.
2. Unlike in Islam, those who convert from Christianity to other religions do not have their heads struck off for changing their religion. ("Strike of the head of the one who changes his deen.") So I'm not surprised to have met few Moslem atheists or converts to Christianity since hat means you die and I don't meet you.

True. As an ex-christian I can testify to the validity of your statement. I often wonder why they waste their time trying to convert me. Then I remember that christianity is a cult and constantly needs new members to brainwash.

True, I used to be a Christian and am now a Deist. Christians waste their time trying to convert former Christians back. We already know Christianity and why we rejected it. It is much easier to convince the ignorant.

Yeah, I noticed. I actually used to be Christian, but then realized that I was fooling myself, and never actually believed in that.
I live in a very religious town, and almost everyone in my high school is Christian, or was Christian but is now atheistic/agnostic.

Hahaha...you are so right! It just comes to show that christianity was nonsense-well, at least to the smart ones who've opened their minds...like you and me, and all those others!

true, my hubby and I were also christian until christians turned us away from it - christian propaganda is crammed down our throats everywhere we go, we all know about it, it's time to quit talking the talk and start walking the walk - if more christians acted like decent people instead of judgemental fools, more people might listen when they did talk...

I never try to spread my religion. I spread the word of God's love and salvation. If you truly believe in him, I don't think it matters what religion you are.
