Hey chick,
I have a tattoo on my stomach. Its in chinese with 4 symbols running down on the left side of my stomach. It looks awesome!
I thought about what would happen when I have kids. My Dad wasnt happy about the fact I got it done on my stomach either. But I look at my mum and she has no stretch marks or anything, her skin went back to absolute normal & she had 3 kids. Mum says that if you look after your body while your pregnant (she used a lot of Vitamin E oils to help the skin stretch properly) then your skin wont be damaged.
I figured if the worst comes to worst & my tatt does get damaged I can always get if fixed or have it turned into something else. Did you know that tattooists can do that? They can turn one tatt into something completely different .. its amazing. If you dont believe me go to a Tattoo shop & ask to see photos of when they have changed tatts.
I reckon go for it. Honestly is your body gonna look that great when your all old and wrinkly anyway? You may as well enjoy it while it looks good hey?

I think it would be a great place for a tat. If I had thought about it when I got my last one it would have been there. After 5, I decided to stop, though.
When I got pregnant, I got those dreaded stretch marks and still have reminents of them 6 years later. My best friend has had two children and looks like one of those models for Bow Flex, so no one can answer the question about the pregnancy stretching of the tattoo. It is up to genetics.
I say go for it. It will hurt like heck in such a tender area, but will be fun to profile in a bikini or hipsters. And if you do get those stretchmarks, you'll want to hide your belly anyways.

You might wish to search on 'answers' for this because it was discussed many times. First of all, it is young women who generally get pregnant and have good skin elasticity, so it is very easy for that stretched skin to get back into shape AND it does not stretch that much. I think some of what you read here is embellished by people who don't know much about tattoos.
Even if you develop stretch marks your tattoo won't be dramatically affected. We do a lot of tattooing in that central pelvic area - it's a very popular place.

I think tattoos look cool there, but if you get pregnant it will stretch. Angelina Jolie had a tattoo there, and after her pregnancy her tattoo still looks fine. Not to be funny but I guess it depends on how much weight you gain during the pregnancy.

Yes, pregnancy most certainly WILL affect a tattoo in this area. Consider what weight gain can do to a tattoo before you decide on a location. I had a girlfriend who had a dolphin tattoo on her upper pelvic area, almost in the same place you're describing, and after she got pregnant it looked like a ridiculous fish with a giant bulbis nose. LOL! Personally, I got mine on my ankle because I'm not likely to gain THAT much weight that it would screw up a tattoo on my ankle. I gained 80 lbs in pregnancy and my tattoo still looks great! (the rest of me is back to normal too. LOL!)

A friend of mine got one there and when she had a baby it stretched all out. But it just depends on your body. I've had 3 babies and I have no stretch marks. So, it depends on what you want for the rest of your life.

Yes, it can distort because that's one of the areas that increases the most when you're pregnant. Also, you don't know if you are going to have to get a c-section when you're having a baby....

that sounds cute, but it will get distorted if you get pregnant, possibly cut if you have to get a C section, so if children are a possibility in your future it might not be the best spot to choose.

i think lower back is better (except that people like to call it a "tramp stamp" in movies). it still looks sexy, you don't ever get tired of looking at it yourself ('cause you can only see it in the mirror) and you don't have to worry about the stretch marks, ever. unless you get incredibly fat, in which case i guess you'd have more important things to think about. hehe.

I have one there but I had already had my kids when I got mine. It is a good place to have one.
