My boyfriend has been suffering from Dizzy spells and is light-headed. He had an ear infection over a month ago, and took medication for it, but he still has spells. Know why?

He may still have an ear infection. It could be affecting the inner ear, which can cause these symptoms. He needs to go back to the doctor.

Being that he had an ear infection and he still has the dizziness, how about you go with him to an ENT (ear, nose, throat specialist) dr. They deal with inner ear disorders and the sinuses and all. And when he sits up from a lying position, it's best to do so really slowly as a drop in blood pressure from laying to sitting/standing can cause one to feel even more dizzy and light-headed.

The ENT dr sounds like a wise next step. He may have to get a referral from his family dr so please do call his dr's office first. For those with certain inner ear disorders, there is physical therapy (although not necessarily a 'cure-all') called Vestibular Rehabilitation to help with balance and dizziness, but only for certain ones. He would need a physician's referral for a physical or occupational therapist as well. Hoping that he feels better real soon!

Fluid in the ear
viral ear infection= antibiotics don't work for this
bacterial ear infection, where the antibiotics should treat this

He should probably go back to the doc if it doesn't subside. If it was a viral inner ear infection, then it has to run it's course unfortunately. The doc can give him pills for the dizziness though.

Probably still has moisture in his inner ear - time for a revisit to the doctor for some help. Could try Musinix (sp?) to thin the mucus and help it drain.

Make sure he completed ALL of the medicine. If not there could still be an infection present. Or, he could have been misdiagnosed and the pills he took, ineffective.
