Keep the sugar treats to a minimum while she's having diarrhea. What Pediatrician's recommend is the BRAT diet, that's B= banana's R= rice A= applesauce T=toast .You can't let dehydration or diarrhea go on more than 12 hours without some medical intervention with a anti-diarrheal medicine like "Imodium",you can buy this OTC. Gator aid and ginger ale and 7-up are all good to alleviate nausea. If she starts having any bloody diarrhea or worsening of symptoms, she needs a MD's care ASAP. Take care. SW RNP

I'm sorry to hear about your niece! My pediatrician always recommended the BRAT diet. Bananas, Rice, Apples and Toast. For a treat what about applesauce on toast with a raisin smiley face? Hope she feels better soon.

When kids have diarrhea, you can give them what pediatricians call the BRAT diet. Bananas, Rice (plain white), Applesauce, Toast (dry). Very important: NO DAIRY! Pedialite comes in freezer pops, that would be the only "treat" I would offer until she's gone 48 hours without diarrhea.

Anything with simple carbs - bread, toast, bananas, rice, applesauce, noodles, pasta, mashed potatoes. Stay away from milk and juice - they're not as easily digested and can make diarrhea worse.
Also, Immodium and Pepto can make it last longer, or give BAD belly pains.
