its a solid silver portable ash tray thats about 4 inches in diameter and1 1/2 inches wide?

Since smoking is not as popular as it used to be, I would say that the only value is it's silver content. So if it's truly solid silver, just weigh it and look up the current price for silver and you should have a pretty good idea of its worth.

Look in eBay. I provided the link at the bottom of this page. You might have to try different combinations such as, sterling silver ash tray, or sterling silver. That way you can get a rough idea on what it might be worth. Hope this helps!

Sadly with smoking being out of fashion it is worth very little over the silver value. You could see a coin dealer many of them deal in metals or a jeweler (you could have it melted and reformed into jewelry). Good Luck!
