The US territory is huge. Why don't they produce sugar? Save money for ethanol.

Sugar cane is grown in the southeast, particularly Louisiana. Sugar beets are grown farther north, lots in Michigan.

they produce sugar beets
and in Hawaii and other us tropical places they grow sugar cane
but the consumer market for sugar is imense
it is almost the number one drug in the world
