Conspiracy theories, gotta love 'em.

There was absolutely no reason to murder Patton, he had been relieved of his command and was "disgraced" militarily. He had no political ambitions, and was mocked in the press so badly that there was no chance he would ever have developed any.

He was a great battlefield commander, in my opinion the greatest during WWII, but after the war he demonstrated easily that he had no abilities for civil governance.

He was not murdered. Why murder someone who had already done so much damage to his own reputation that he was already out of the limelight? He was the just the victim of a tragic accident.

Wrong.Gen Gay riding in the car with Patton said the accident just happened. The Military police arrived 5 min after the accident.Gen Gay wrote and I repeat wrote both drivers and dismissed any blame on their part.It was an accident nothing more.

You conspiracy theorists will go to some pretty ridiculous lengths to get a little recognition or attention ! I'm really starting to dislike you people, immensley!

Patton died in a traffic accident, in Germany, following the end of WWII ! End of story !

At the end of the war, the US was getting cozy with Soviets, and was thinking about going against UK geopolitically. They decided to team up with the UK to carve up the world instead.
Patton hated the Russians as we all know. Murder?Could be, but I think he was worth more to us as a hero and innovator. He redeemed himself on the battlefield after he fell from Ike's graces, so he would have come home a shining star who hated Russians.
