Will there be any cure/treatment/vaccine for AIDS in the future?

If yes, is it just the matter of time for scientist to invent something that can cure/prevent (100%) AIDS? And about how long will it take to invent such kind of thing?

if no... does it mean the only thing that human can do is to prolong an infected person's life with drugs...?

There is a new vaccine that prevents a sexual transmitted disease called HPV, it causes about 80% of cervical cancers. There is a big controversy involving the vaccine because parents dont want to give it to their daughters because they think it will give permission to their daughters to have unprotected sex.... crazy, I know. I have a feeling that there is alot of people who do not want a vaccine for HIV. Unfortunately I think some powerful people still believe that people who contract the disease are asking for it. I heard somewhere once that if all the scientist were given HIV, within a year they would have a cure?

I personally believe we will see a vaccine before we see a cure. In fact that's what they are working on right now. A cure is difficult because cures work usually when the disease is growing or cells are being invaded as with this virus. So the best time to attack it would be at this particular time. Getting someone to come into the office at the precise time would be mindbending. But if there is a vaccine that anyone who participates in the risky behaviors that can make them vulnerable to contract this disease could take...look how many people wouldn't get HIV/AIDS. But then there is the issue of whether this vaccine would be made available to people at a low cost level so anyone and everyone would be able to afford. it.

Let's see....I'll get out my crystal ball.....sorry to be curt, but nobody knows the answer to this question...and everybody would love to. This is the reason that as healthcare providers we work so hard at promoting prevention. It's been a long hard battle so far and the battle will go on untill it's won. So we research.....and preach prevention. Wouldn't you think by now everybody would be using condoms freely? Know what ....they don't. You tell me.....what can I do to get people to take precautions against an illness that has no cure...and gives a horrible slow death?
