I saw that someone answered that chicken broth was not permitted on fridays during lent but it is. you can look it up. I have read (Fr John Huels in the pastoral companion franciscan herald press) that meat juices and liquid foods made from meat are not forbidden. go ahead and look it up if you are not sure. i know its not really a question just trying to help someone out. did this help anyone?

Could you give a second source as there are many in the Catholic Church who say a lot of things.St. Anthony's is one of those sites.

I am so grossed out by the term "meat juice."

This should really be a no brainer. Many churches have fish fries and soup suppers on Fridays of Lent.

Kinda excludes a vegetarian like myself though...

People get so goofy about Lent. It's the spirit of the thing. Not the letter of the law. So many people have "decided" that "meat" only refers to "beef." Not true. Chicken is meat! So is fish for that matter, but I won't go there.

Yes. Soup is allowed. You are sacrificing a satisfying dinner for a light one.

It's important to understand the spirit, the meaning, of our Friday abstinence. If you go out and have Lobster, you're holding to the letter of the law, but throwing its intent right out the window. Sushi as well. Sushi is a simple meal. But we all love sushi (well except us vegetarians). There is no sacrifice in a sushi dinner.

Many churches have given up the fish fry for broiled salmon. I think that's pushing it.

Now what about us Catholic Veggies? We already don't eat meat. So Friday's are a free-for-all? Nope. We still have to give something up. What is our "meat?" Tofu? Seitan? Tempeh? I give up all sweets on days of abstinence.

particular, the alcohol advice has been completely discredited by skill of Clark & Ponting to boot as CA.apparently somebody in simple terms 'guessed' that replaced into the explanation(probable the mendacity Peter Roebuck who's hated by skill of each and all the cricketing international) and the media picked it up. of direction it would not help that particular people right here who abuse & insult Aussies each danger they get & submit those lies till now sorting out the certainty. BTW, i think it replaced into Steve Waugh who made the comments approximately Harbhajan.

The fact that people debate these things as a point of religion just blows my mind. What's the curse on Christianity that its addicts always insist on nonessentials and ignore essentials?
