My girlfriend is finishing up her first year in college. She is undocumented. The college she attends considers her an "International" student. She graduated from a California High School and because of this, she pays in state tuition fees. Her petition for legal residency has put in about 5 years ago, but she has heard nothing from the government yet. Does anyone know how she can get a job on campus? How do International students get jobs on campus without a Social Security Number? Please advise. Would prefer advice from professional.

If she is here illegally she should have no rights to college or anything else. What part of illegal do you not understand.

If she petitioned for legal residency five years ago she needs to do whatever it takers to get an attorney (or at least a community organization who can assist her). She cannot work legally until she resolves the issue, as she is here illegally.

International students get jobs only if they come here on student visas. That is because they are legal for the duration of their visa.

If she has any paperwork received from the INS/USCIS she might take a look at the link below and see what the processing times are for her type of visa.

I am not a professional but have been through the immigration process.

On campus jobs might be possible im not sure of the legality of that. I would check with either school administration or financial aid offices there.
I know off campus an international student cannot work and keep their visa legally.

This is a question probably better suited for the student-legal-services offered by her campus, they may be able to better advise her on employment laws, how they apply to her campus, and whether her campus can accept illegal workers provided they filed a petition for legal residency.

If she is illegal, she cannot work on campus or even study in the USA. She is considered and international student and pays the in-state fees?
Anyway illegals should not be allowed to study.
