It's a passive-aggressive thing
'war' becomes conflict
'empire' democracy
but underneath it's still war and war is terror unfortunately
As for it being in the name of Jesus it is for some, but the only ones who prefer this are some conservative christians and radical muslims both of whom characterise it this way!
Most of us still remember Jesus said turn the other cheek and find ways to make peace, not start wars and threaten 'all options are on the table', translation 'we'll nuke you' like some psychopath. Jesus wouldn't be the one applauding the war in Iraq and cheering the whole thing on

Hi, my name joshua kane, i am not jesus, jesus was just this kid that used to follow me around, back in the good old days - he would listen to my speeches and serve food, drink my wine and sometimes he would go for long walks to contemplate his belly button! Well, i am here to tell you about the TRONGOD, and the gospel of zerokane.THATS WHAT I WAS HERE FOR IN THE BEGINNING, but that pesky jesus, kept on bothering me. Mind you i reckon i got off lightly, you know what happened to jesus, although I was surprised that Judas grassed him up. they were lovers you know! Must have had an argument! It disturbs me a great deal that i have been forgotten, jesus that 'scamp', stole my ideas and ideals and passed them off as his own, obviously he changed a lot of my texts, facts and history, due to copyright reasons, but my disciples certainly were a little fickle, as soon as Jesus gave all that fish and bread , they were off, followed him around all day every day, 24 - 7, i think i had a lucky escape. Anyway, as i was saying, my god, my gospel is the true word! It must be true because I wrote it all in a book, but i found out recently that the 'vatican' are witholding it from publication, something about truth, reality, demise of the church and all that! Well, i'm back now, so they better be ready to apologise, give me back my book and do something about that whole 'jesus' thing. My dad says hello, and my mum is busy doing some blessings, dad isin the garden trying to make a better earth , the first one he made has really got disease infected. See you at EASTER! OH by the way me and jesus don't approve of wars.

No and if it was. World War Three would have wiped us all of the face of the planet.

This war and all war is a sad and disgusting issue.

Weapons of Mass destruction was the initial " reason"

Now it seems the whole thing has turned into chaos, maybe purposely too.

This situation is not going to be resolved i guess for another 30 years.

It was an aw full thing what happened to the Kurdish people, being gassed.

But no war on this earth is about Faith.

Faith and Religion is used and abused and called upon has reasons to fight. Its despicable.

All faiths of this world must unite. not try to convert each-other. But unite for the cause of Peace.

Fear and Ignorance and Arrogance has confused people of all faiths.

It is time. All Religions become personal faiths.

That our beliefs should be within our hearts and minds only.

one to one with your God.

I think it is more a religious war than one might think at first. When Iraq surrendered a constitution was written up and presented to Iraq. It was almost accepted until They realized it was not based on the Islamic religion. There must have been a clause about freedom of religion. And that was the end of that.

If it were a war for Jesus there would not be a man, women, child, animal left alive there at this time. Read the old text to find out how war was/should be raged or some people feel it should still be this/that way.

Not by any means, remember dirty politics was the instigator of this war. So no, this war can be classified as Politics as usual. Cuz that's what it was and that's what it is. Take note also that lies, lies, and more lies were used to sell the war. I don't see how lies can have anything to do with Jesus name.

According to Palestinian ministers at a meeting with George W Bush, the president told them that God told him to invade Iraq.

However publically i don't recall him saying anything like that to the Western media, and certainly i doubt if most Americans see it as a war for Jesus, though some Christian Zionist types might see it in religious terms (they think protecting Israel is America's God-given duty and Iraq was a threat to Israel).

Here in the UK, which is America's main partner in the war, most people are not practicing Christians (they may tick "Christian" on a census form but never go to church and know little about religion), and most practicing Christians that i know of are against the war and Christian leaders like the bishops of the church of England have spoken out aginst the war, so it is definitely not seen as something in the name of Jesus. Other mainly (nominally at least) Christian countries in Europe like Germany and France opposed the war, as did Canada and practically all of Latin America.

In the end i think Iraq is much more seen as a war in the name of American global dominance than anything else. It is politically motivated.

As for conflicts in the name of Jesus, well the Crusades obviously (against Muslims in Palestine, but also against Jews, "heretic" Christians, and anybody else the state church chose to victimise), also the Allies and the Germans in world war 2 used to mention God in a cursory sort of way, and the German army motto was "Gott mit uns" (God with us), but again i don't think world war 2 was really advertised as a religious war.

The Taiping rebellion in China (1851-64) was led by a group with Christian-like beliefs who sought to establish law based on the ten commandments. It was put down with help from the British army at the cost of 20 million Chinese lives.

The Lord's Resistance Army fighting in Uganda may be an example of a modern religion-based conflict, but it is not clear if the "Lord" mentioned there is Jesus as its spiritualist leader was channelling spirits of dead people and it does not seem to have much to do with Christianity:

Iraq war:
Fear of what Saddam might do in future?
Taking out of a bad guy?
Revenge for 911?
Revenge for assassination attack on President Bush's dad?
Oil interests?

No UK wars in Jesus name I think since King Of Northumbria Edwin(?) fought Penda of Mercia in 7C. Civil war in 17C had a religious element but was in the name of Parliament.

Catholics have much more of a problem because the Popes got carried away with worldly power and tried to impose their views in a wholely unchristian way. Horrid crimes: Crusades. Cathar crusade. Also imposed catholicism in some areas of South America. They got over it by 19C though.

Not officially, but read between the lines. Duh.

Steve B.: Plese tell me what Iraq had to do with 9/11, which was the original justification for invading.

No, I wouldn't classify it as a religious war. I think it's an opportunity for the "defense" contractors to make a pile of money in return for supporting the current gang of kleptocrats in office.
