Athiest: Person that through their studies of the different religious texts and documents does not find enough, if any, proof that would make them believe in a higher power to which others worship such as a single god or multiple gods, Close enough.
This out of the way my question? if you claim to be an athiest than what/ why would there be any need to continually bother these so called christians by asking for proof over and over when as an athiest you should have already read these same texts. If a person wishes to believe in a higher power, santa, easter bunny, even if it bothers you THIS IS THEIR RIGHT - AS YOU HAVE YOURS! Enjoy you assembly/fellowships rights and allow others theirs?

No, an atheist is not obligated to have read all, or any, religious books before coming to their decision.

Regarding why we may frequently ask for proof, it is because a claim is made in a public forum and everyone has a right to criticize and analyze the question.

It is a persons right to believe whatever they want. And on an individual basis that is great. But religion is never singular, and it is organized religion which is ruining the world. It is the duty of all rational freedom loving people to fight the dogma and lies propagating out of organized religon.

Good question, but you could ask the same regarding Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. All three fall into the same category.

OK, fine can be delusional. However they tried to put religion in public school, and infect children with believing in things without proof the opposite of what school is suppose to teach. Religion people do affect me and everyone else, because they put their views into laws.

Well, when a whole bunch of people go around thumping their chest about how their religion is right and all of us "heathens" are going to hell it's kind of hard not to ask them for evidence.

sorry, but it stops when the cult christians use their cult nonsense to try and ensconce social policy, and use their cult book (bible) as a weapon to hurt others.

then -- education and change is the only answer.

it's also disgusting and unacceptable when the culstists abuse their children by forcing cult nonsense upon them at early ages.

they claim to be atheists, but I think they are more confused than anything. and they want someone to prove to them that its real, cause they want to believe too...but are scared to step over in fear of being called a fool. so they seek 100% proof they can touch, feel, taste so no one can say "you fool" if they step over.

isn't peer pressure great?
