I have a Pacific Parrotlet which doesn't talk, but can whistle.

Parakeets can say a few words, are a bit smaller than the Meyer's or a Cockatiel.

I also have a Meyer's Parrot, which is about the size of an "average" woman's fist who can talk a bit.

Cockatiels are about the same size as a Meyer's parrot, and they can talk limitedly.

Next are Conures- they have a pretty good vocabulary and are a size between Cockatiels and Amazons/Greys.

Next are the Amazon parrots (many different sub-species)- they're pretty big with an impressive vocabulary. African Greys are about the same size as an Amazon, and speak very, very well. I'd say they're about the size of a football-- maybe a bit smaller.

Next biggest are Macaws with the largest being the Hyacinth Macaw. Macaws have vocabularies, but not like the Grey.

There are other types of parrots, but these (I think) are the most widely known for the most part. Cockatoos are larger parrots and popular pets, but I am unsure of their ability to talk.

A parakeet can be taught to talk.... not as clearly as an African Gray but they can talk if trained.
Parrotlets are very small (smaller than keets) and then there are the Macaws, which are also parrots... and they get large.

cockatiels are trainable, can say some words, and are small. African greys are the smartest parrot and they are a med size. Macaws are large and also trainable. My favorite parrot is the cockatoo. Very loveable and loyal. good luck
