I work on a force of 4500 officers, so far only 3 I know of have been sacked in the last 4 years for comitting a criminal offence, and only one of those was whilst on duty, one of the towns I work in has a population of 6000 and we're currently actively pursuing at least 30 criminals, so it's hardly lower. It would be interesting to see if you were basing your rationale on something more substantial than a biased media report.

How cool. Please post your sources so that we can all share this great knowlege pool.
And I have it on good authority that there are more idiots (per capita) among criminals than the rest of the civilian population. waddayaknow

Hmmm.............. rather silly comment but you get alot on this site.
Well lets have some evidence then as there are around 135,000 officers in the UK .
Compared with a small town of the same number people, I wonder how many would end up in court compared with the police officers.
I know the answer, but unfortunately this site does seem to suffer a few stupid no brain contributions like this...

I think this is a common misconception. The vast, vast majority of our nation's police officers are amazing, law-abiding individuals who put themselves on the line every day for low pay in the name of protecting the public. Like everything, you'll always get a few bad apples, who get a lot of attention and make the problem of corrupt police seem disproportionately huge.
