It depends on the size and weight of the envelope. Most letters or cards only cost $0.39 (for first class), however, if the envelope is larger than letter or legal size, or a normal greeting card it's usually $0.60 (for first class). If you are unsure about the amout of postage you need, take the letter to the post office and they can weigh it for you and give you the proper postage or you can use one of the new automated postal centers in the post office where you can weigh and print the postage and pay with your debit card. The automated machine is very easy to use, simply follow the steps on the computer screen.
Keep in mind that it will take about 3-5 days for the letter to get there since it has to cross an ocean. It will take even longer if it's not sent first class.

Remember that Hawaii IS a state, not a foreign land.
Priority Mail is $4.05 for a flat rate envelope.
