I'm sure some of you haven't noticed it but if you pay close attention when they do it ,it always appears to be an upside down cross. If it is on purpose is it a reference to Peter who was crucified upside down..at least that would make sense although innappropriate.

The pope does it right. But, then, he's doing a HUGE blessing.

I have noticed a lot of people don't touch at the navel. That's where you should. For a proper blessing.

I just don't think they know. They don't even consider what they're doing. Most look like they're swatting a fly awy from their nose. It breaks my heart.

What are you talking about? The sign of the cross is made from the forehead to the heart - that's the "upright" - and then from the left shoulder to the right - that's the crossbar. How do you imagine this is upside down??

It is kind of like praying the Sign of the Cross in front of a mirror.

Instead of touching the left shoulder first, some priests touch the right shoulder first when facing a congregation.

Then the people will mirror him and, properly, touch their left shoulder first and not get mixed up.

With love in Christ.

No, it's not either upside down or inverted. They are doing the sign of the Cross from their position. (make one with your hand in the air in front of you instead of crossing yourself and you will get the same result) Hope this helps!

Ive noticed that to. So, I modify it and do it all on my chest rather than on head and chest. If it was a refrence to Paul, I dont think it is anymore. The only people nowdays who (Deliberately) use inverted crosses is satanists.
