My mum has finaly agreed that I can have my belly button pierced! But we live on an island and the last Piercist shop shut down 2 years ago. My mum says she will pierce it for me or I can do it by myself (with her watching) if I do some research on the internet and the best way to go about it. So whats the best way? What do you need?

Sorry but we can't travel off the island right now. We've been to the mainland 4 times this year already.

I HAVE pierced my ears before. I have 3 in each ear. And I pierced the 3rd set myself. My mum is NOT stupid. It is just defintely not worth paying about 200 pounds to get off this island for one day to get a piercing. I will find information else where as no one here is helpful at all.

There's a shop that sells stuff like earrings , belly bars etc. that I can buy suitable jewellery from.

N N , don't go thinking that I just asked my mum and she immediately said yes. I have been absolutely begging for it for over 5 years! I am 14 in 19 days.

I tried to pierce my friends belly button and it wouldnt go though. I would get a sharp yarn needle, or a needle slightly bigger than an average one, burn the end so its sterile, swab down your stomach with rubbing alhol and pierce it. Its gonna be really sore afterwards. Sorry everyone else was so unhelpful.

Stop being so crazy, your belly button gets infected really really easily not like your ears! My friend did it herself and ended up with a nasty infection and scars! Wiat until you are next going to the mainland. Trust me! I've seen it and it's not something you want! Anyway, where will you get suitable bely-buton jewlery if you do it yourself at home?

It shouldn't be too much bother to leave the island for a short trip to a professional piercer. People have done these kinds of things on their own, but the risk of permanent damage is great for amateur piercing.

I got my belly button pierced and had some trouble with it so I took the ring out and it healed up. So I repierced it myself. Just numb it with some ice and push the needle through. If you were able to pierce your own ears, you can do this. (I've pierced my own ears too.) It is much more painful to have your belly button pierced than your ears. But once it heals and stops itching, its fine and you dont even notice it anymore. Make sure you clean it 2-3 times a day. (When I had mine done they told me to use antibacterial soap like Dial. But I've heard of people cleaning them with salt too.) Anyway, good luck and enjoy your new piercing.

For God's sake! Who is stupider, you or your Mum?
Dont pierce your own belly button, dont pierce your own anything. No matter what you read on the Internet.
If you cant get it done then dont do it. It's hardly essential.
Piercing is tricky and should only be done by proffessionals and using needles ( not a gun ). If you do a home job then you will end up in hospital. Maybe then they can complete your lobotomy.

diffrent stores sell kits that have alredy steral neddels and other things that you will need. if there are not any stores around that carry them you could try ordering them off the internet. if you put ice on the area and clean the area befor piercing you cill have better results and there should be instructions in the kit

you can ony do it if you have the right equipment,
thats the scissor clamp thing they have
the tube thing to pierce it with,
a pen and a thing to keep it in a straight line,
if you dont have these then it will turn out bent, and probs go rotton.
also you CANNOT use a needle, its to small, becasue you have to use something big enough to put the bar through after.

to be completely trusting in both your mother's ability to make everything hygenic and your own judgement. Personally, if I were you, I should wait for a better ferry off the Island. Your parents should not be included in your rebellions.
