walking is the #1 best way to start out.. its easy, won't cause any pain in most cases. weights are great also. go light weight and enjoy the time while doing it.
don't fall into the trap of saying "I'll get bulky muscles" if you lose fat the muscles you have will show up! don't think that your getting bulky..another tip for fat loss is, throw the scale out the window. more and more people will give up while trying to "please the scale" who cares what the scale says.
the scale we all should use is the mirror.
its all about how you look and feel about yourself.
not much you weigh!!!!!!!!!!!

Strength training exercises will help you to improve on your overall physical strength. If you want to just tone your body without gaining weight then you should do the repetitions around 15. 1-5 reps = power 8-12=strength, hypertrophy 15+=endurance Keep the weight light for toning. And resting period should be less than 2 minutes. Weight training will only burn a mediocre small of fat. You will need to incorporate it with a cardio training workout program. Cardio training will help you to burn the fat quicker and gives you more energy for your daily life. And make sure you eat a healthy diet. Reduce your calories intake by 500 per day. Overall: 1-Do a fast paced, high repetitions weight training workout to tone muscles 2-Do cardio training 2-3 times per week, each time 15-25 minutes 3-eat a healthy diet while reducing calories intake

Well, I purchased a treadmill a while back and I am finding the daily routine has tightened and toned my inner thighs and butt
it is also a thorough workout building upper body strength as far as increasing your heart rate and ensuring your chest is functioning right. Hope this helps, Good Luck! :)

have you ever thought of attending a spin class. It is very high intensity and the work is mostly in the legs. if you are not convinced that this would work just look at the cyclist of the world. Most of them have very strong toned legs, not big muscles just tone.

Aerobic exercise should be your primary focus. Do not neglect the weights, but spend plenty of time on the treadmill, elliptical and stairmaster.
