So I walked about 4 miles today (twice around a 2 mile path) and I have step-meter, it was about 9,000 steps but only like 230 calories that I burned. Now to lose weight, isn't it true that you have to burn more calories than you consume? And I have also heard to just try to consume under 1500 a day if you are trying to lose weight. But how am I going to lose weight if I'm not burning that many calories?

in a day the average female will burn 2000 calories doing every day things, the 2000 you eat a day fuels this, so cutting out 500 will result in weight loss, exercising will burn extra calories as well making weight loss allot faster, plus it will build muscle tissue which will aid your metabolism and help the weight stay off.

Just being alive most people will burn more than 1,000 calories a day, so you would have to add that 230 calories to your base
