Lots of times mothers ask the gf questions that are really indirectly for her son.He might be trying to get her to leave her money to him or she might be telling him he should be grateful she is leaving her money to him. Most likely the question had more to do with her son and something she was trying to show him. Don't worry about it.

do your father own a lot of property or a really nice place.. her motive could be she was thinking if her son married you one day you would come into property and money.. another thing is how did she hear your father had property.. her son must have told her.. i predict a pre nup aggreement in your feature if you do marry him.. protect your self

One of the first questions my ex - father in law asked me was "How much money does your father make?" You could have knocked me over with a feather. I told him "It's none of my business". That shut him up.
Some people just have no tact.

And that's exactly what you should have replied (with a shocked look on your face): "Why on earth would you ask such an insensitive question???"

I would politely say " I don't see that this would be any of your business." And my father is in good health, thank you.

i guess she was just checking to see if you were well off financially, i suppose. that is a really rude question of her to ask, though.
