I mean like whatever you give up for Lent is right there in front of you dancing with glorious light all around it blazing saying "Yoohoo, here I am". The cravings increase ten fold huh?

That is how it feels. April 6th (Good Friday) sometimes feels so far off.

I don't believe in original sin. I believe in biology and understanding it based on a wide breadth of information.

I have fasted without food and water. I have also experienced intense periods of meditation. With both, you become very in touch with body, mind and spirit.

I don't practise Lent , but there are probably some similarities.
Fasting and meditation give you a clarity Lent would not. I believe Lent as I have heard friends talk about, it is a very good spiritual practise though not as intense as what I do.

Need is not evil or sinful. We need to eat and drink. We as a species need to reproduce. If we did ot have these desires we would become extinct!

Gluttony is something we do not need. However many have come to understand rather than condemn glutony. This is an important wisdom. Glutony comes from a variety of conditions in different people. What is interpreted as gluttony can be from a biological imbalance or exist as a result of a psychological or emotional states that require healing not condemnation.

I wonder though about power hungry people. However, there are in depth explanations for everything based on science and as I mentioned before empathy based wisdom. It is too easy and simple just to say they are manifestations of a sin.

Self discipline is sensible. It is something that is good for us to learn. I do not believe in extremes. I believe in empathy and knowledge working as a team. Lent and fasting give us valuable experiences from which we can grow and appreciate the many blessings we enjoy however humble our lives may be.

when you fast your senses highten. Although a lot of muck passes through you and some people feel cranky or sick.
You notice everything. I am huessing that by giving up something for Lent that the act of remembering you are not going to have it actually makes you more aware of it. That is not a sin it is perfectly logicl!

Peace.

Show a bit of self control woman. Try cold showers (fully clothed so as not to create any "pleasure of the flesh" type scenarios)
