what is the best one if there is more than one? I will be travelling all round that country soon and also Australia

There are lots of aquariums in NZ. The biggest is Kelly Tarlton's in Auckland but its also the worst value for money. If you're only in Auckland or need to visit every aquarium then sure, otherwise save your money. Rip-off alert there!
The National Aquarium in Napier is possibly the best in the country, and they also have kiwi.
There are small aquariums in Picton and Nelson (I haven't been to those ones), and one in Hokitika on the West Coast which I have heard grumblings about but actually really liked myself.
In Christchurch the Southern Encounter Aquarium is awesome. Its quite small but it specialises in NZ wildlife, including tuatara and kiwi (easily the best kiwi house in NZ).
In Dunedin is Portobello Aquarium which is even smaller but really good too.
There are a few other little ones scattered around the country too but I haven't seen them yet.

Other cities may have smaller aquariums but check out that one, it also has an antartic centre.

Yes! Kelly Tarltons Underwater World in Auckland is the place to go. It was the first aquarium in the world to have an underwater walkway tunnel thing.
You'll enjoy it.
Sydney in Australia has an excellent one too.
Also if you are going to Christchurch go to the antarctic centre near the airport to see the little penguins (cute)!

The Kelly Tarlton one in Auckland is excellent - it has one of those tunnels where you can see turtles and stuff swimming overhead. It also has an Antarctic section where you can see penguins and learn about Antartcic expeditions, etc.
