go to your device manager, and see is you have sound device installed, and check that it has latest update. it's possible there are too many variables to help you here as we can only answer each question once :(
try this http://www.annoyances.org/

at the site mentioned above scroll down to bottom of page(left side), and click you your particular operating system.

Well, you need to give a little more info.

Is there a sound card or onboard sound device installed in your computer? If so, uninstall media player, clean out the registry, download and reinstall media player and it should work.

Sounds like your audio driver is not installed. Go to the windows update page and see if it will find and install the driver for you. If not go to your computer manufacturer site and look for the driver.

camus,
It's not recognizing the sound card driver in your pc, to make sure it's installed, go to control panel, "sound and audio devices", and check to make sure it's listed there, if not you will need to reinstall the sound card driver, if you don't have it but know the brand, go here and register for the free account and search and download the driver you need. Good Luck..

Seems like you don't have speakers. If you do, make sure they are plugged in the green slot, not the red or blue. Also make sure that your computer can detect the speakers. If not, you may need some drivers for your sound card.
