Chippy,
The better question is what are Christian parents doing to combat the atheists teaching lies to their children.
My dear, it is already happening.

Nothing until I knew exactly what you meant. Secretly??
If the education system was not teaching Creationism I would shut up or have the choice to put them in a religious academy. BUT if they were teaching "Creationism Is A Lie" then I Would Raise Bloody Hell!!! And then Take Them Out!! Two different things.
They should Not teach Creationism as a Science because it cannot be proven (although neither can the Big Bang) and there IS proof for Evolution!! Even though I am a Christian, I know what a dinosaur is and don't take the Old Testament stories literally.
If they were teaching Evolution, fine. They might even get away with the Big Bang. BUT If they were teaching "There Is No God" then I have a law suit!! (and a heat rash!!)
Good Question!! @80)

This is already happening. The public schools seem to think it's ok to teach their secular progressive religion to the children while keeping Christianity out. The only thing you can do is to provide children with the truth in love and respect and pray for them. Also, one thing that has worked for me was to openly talk about how God really does fit in science and the universe and how His wisdom is valuable to living within the community. Man has made the mistake of believing that he knows everything because he has science but he hasn't gotten that far yet.

You mean like Christians used to do to everyone's kids in public schools and would like to do again - teach that only their beliefs are right and everyone else is going to hell?
I get a chuckle out of all the Christians jumping in and claiming that denying them the right to cram their beliefs down everyone's kids' throats is "secretly teaching their children that Christianity is a lie". What, deny me the right to force my religion on you, how dare you!

What do you mean? They hear that Christianity is not important every day in school, the news, TV shows, music videos, etc. I have found that the world does not support the faith I teach. It's my job to instill those values in them. That's why mine attend a private Christian school. Yes, every month I write a tuition check backing up my talk. I don't want what the public school system is teaching!

I would let my child decide, because in a Christian home, there is love for all family members. In a Christian home with good Christian parents, there is no divorce. A true Christian home will have problems, but things get worked out. The father doesn't go get drunk, then come back to beat up his family. The kids realize that they have something to look forward to, because they have a good family supporting them every step they take. Funny, I didn't talk about God anywhere in there... just a house effected by God. That is how I would know that my children would come to God instead of atheism.

If it were me? I'd be talking to my kids....(I can't answer any other way, I have a very unique relationship with my kids & we talk about any & everything)
I ask my kids questions about what they think, I let them think for themselves.
While my older two were in their catechism classes, they'd come home asking alot of questions and some of the answers they were given by the pastor were either wrong (by my standards or maybe the kids misunderstood)
I want them to think freely and clear and not go by what someone else tells them.....so I told them what I think, ask what they think and told them to learn what they had to in order to get through the class but believe what they thought was the truth.(my opinion? I could be wrong & go to Hell for misleading my kids, but what if everyone else is wrong?)
Same applies for teachers opinions at school.
If there were athiests secretly teaching my kids that Christianity was a lie?
I'd have to ask them first what they know, then what they have learned, give them my opinions, listen to theirs. Even though what they learned from a group of athiests may have a negative effect on what I'd like them to believe or think, I'd let them figure it out on their own with their own reasoning. Sometimes a negative can prove positive.
My kids have asked the pastor some questions that made him have to think in order to answer them.
My daughters government teacher hated the fact that my daughter didn't follow the crowd and use his opinions as her own like everyone else in that class.
I don't give them their opinions, they form their own.

If I found anyone secretly teaching my child anything, the first place I would check is the sex offender register and the second place is the police.
If someone asked me if they could speak to my child..in my presence..I would consider it.

I would say "I just wish you weren't a liar"
(SNL skit, with will ferrel, awesome skit)
Seriously though---My kids are well grounded in the truth right now, in the gospel of Jesus Christ and I know the Holy Spirit resides in them, so I would just pray that the Lord would help my children actually be the "light" to the athiest and that my kids would share the gospel of Jesus Christ with them.
My kids are young, but it is amazing to see the Lord at work in them--definately the power of God and it brings tears of joy to my eyes!
