Nice one !
Our Chemistry Teacher liked to tell us that if you could smell something, then a tiny airborne particle of it had reached the olfactory sensors in your nose, he would then go on to say when you smell the dogsh!t on the road, it's not only on the road , it's also in your nose!!
(nice guy huh ??)
Are you wanting to measure the speed of the airborne particles ? You will be needing to take into account the air conditions : wet, windy, air conditioning, hot. And the smell(particles) involved.
So it's not going to be such a simple equation, there will be many variables. Also the sensitivity of the nose in question!
Can't wait to see if someone's done all this already !! And if they have, why isn't it well known !!

It depends on the pressure of the gases that the "smelly gases" are in and how much of them there is, and their concentration. This is diffusion of gas particles through the air - not made from "waves" like light and sound, which are a lot faster.
