I had to shoot my dog how do I tell my dad?

My dad got me a dog when I was 9, I am 22 now. He got out and killed a calf. I had to shoot the dog. My dad and I are very close to each other and the dog. I don't know how to tell him. He will be hurt so bad. How do I tell my dad.
Please Help

I did what I did. I'm a farm the dog was raised to to protect the calf not eat

I found the dog eating the inside of the calf. He has the taste of blood. You can't make a dog forget that.
I had to do it.

You shot your dog because he killed a calf? I think that is an extreme and brutal approach to resolution. I don't know all of the details, but I'm in awe.

I hope you don't get any more dogs (or cats, fish, etc). In the future, euthanasia is the more humane approach. Most people would have considered even adoption... but shooting, well, that my friend is something I would be concerned about telling anyone.

I can't believe you shot your dog cause it killed a calf your nuts I wish I had my dogs back but they got killed by cars I'm still down about that:( I could see if it hurt a child why youd kill it but a calf i think that was wrong

Tell him the truth. If the murdered calf was more important than a dog you've had for years, and you had to shoot it, maybe he will understand.
