Hey, someone has to sit at the computer typing in answers to questions all day and night.
I suppose that this is a good thing, if you know what you are talking about and cannot get out for whatever the reason. Otherwise, I suppose it is a bad thing.
I suspect that most of the time it is a bad thing, so I am not so sure what the lable "Top Contributor" is supposed to be encouraging. In other words, shouldn't right answers be encouraged? Not voted the best, not chosen the best, not the most questions answered, but rather, shouldn't they be the highest quality and correct answers?
I think too much.

Maybe a bad thing, because it simply draws attention to your profile. I suppose that jealous people might target your responses more often for the "thumbs down", or will try to report you more often for what they consider to be poor answers.
I cannot imagine what good actually comes from it; it's not like anyone I know cares about my being a top contributor, or Y!A for that matter.

I personally don't like it.. I don't want that label, nor did I ask for it. I don't want the target of other people's jealousy who don't have the label, and I don't need to be reminded of just how much time I waste here either.

It seems really arbitrary to me, but it's not good or bad. The orange tags are pretty distracting, though...
