>>Doesn't the fact that Christians did this add proof to the validity of Christianity?
Does the fact that the Heaven's Gaters died for their beliefs add proof to the validity of that particular cult?
What about Waco?
Jim Jones?

Why do people actually think Christians just stood there and allowed lions to kill and eat them?
It makes for a good tale, but Nero was a perverted showman and would not have kept doing the Christian and Lion show it it had no "entertainment" value.
It's amazing how many people say they would and know in their heart they would be at the very least, peeing their pants and making for the exit.

Well, the Christians who were eaten in the gladiatorial arenas didn't choose to be there--they didn't WANT to be eaten--so you can't hold that up as a sign of strong faith.
The fact that one doesn't want to be consumed by a lion, though, doesn't make one any less of a Christian!
I'm not a Christian, btw, not that it matters for this question.

Here's some facts you apparently don't know about about christians:
hell was created by christians - so shall they go there!
christians have KILLED more people in the history of humanity than any other group.
christians have persecuted millions of "non-believers" just because they DIDN'T believe in "christianity!
christians are by far the most brain-washed - brain-dead believers in the world today!
Havin BLIND Faith in something like a religion that CANNOT prove their beliefs (christianity), is wasted faith and time!
Here's the Solution:
Create a private, personal, direct, divine relationship with Our Creator and save your Soul from religion.
Only with Our Creator's Love and Peace will we be Truely Free!

You didn't say whether you could. If I had someone like Barabbas to fight the lion for me I would have no problem. Was it Barabbas or Ben Her I have forgot but it was one or the other Or maybe it was the guy who led the revolt against Rome what was his name Kirk Douglass you know they left him hanging on a stake in the end of the movie. Oh well it was good anyway.

A true Christian would enjoy it. In fact, if you have been lucky enough to read 'The Apostolic Fathers' ( a collection of apocrypha Christian writings) you'll find many passages in which the authors claim to long for martyrdom at the hands of Nero's pride.

Yes I could but I wouldn't want to.
And, again yes, martyrdom does add evidence.
But how much evidence is enough? People are not convinced into the faith or argued into believe in Jesus Christ and commitment to Him. Circumstances must humble them into a desperate searching first, usually.

People have investigated it, and often people undergoing trials of that kind were so staggeringly blessed by the presence of God while it was happening that they could laugh at what was happening with great joy. (I have on occasion been graced by the Holy Spirit's inducing overflowingly indescribably great joy in my spirit - His grace not my worthiness). I heard that from someone who had been to Rome. Sometimes they sang with so much joy that the 'imperial box' of Roman top bods had to put hands on their ears.
I'm too much of a wimp, but I reckon if put in that position I would be given grace, i.e. supernatural support from the Holy Spirit, to endure.

I have wondered what I would do and I really don't know. I would like to think that I was brave for the Lord, but I think I could be a little like Peter. I guess at a time like that the Holy Spirit would help us.

Is there a door number 2?
I'm sure no one looks forward to persecution or death because of their faith. In Rome it was against the law, so no choice. If It was against the law to be a Christian..they would surely throw my whole family in prison!
