Use shampoos and conditioners made for african american type hair. Keep your ends clean and (if you can) braid your hair for when you sleep. Comb it out every morning and every night.

The best way is to keep your hair in braids. Braids make it so the hair has no way of breaking off all day. If braids aren't your thing, well I wash and condition my hair everyday when I wear it natural or I wash and condition once a week when I blow it out. Always use conditioning hair dressing - like gels, polishers, laminates, or creams like pomade or wax. Do NOT brush and comb your hair all the time. Fix in in the morning and then just leave it alone. Don't mess with it all the time - it breaks off when you do that. Also it helps to just wear it pulled back or up - again, you can't mess around with it in a bun. Also, keep the ends trimmed so they do not split and break off. And finally, the magic potion: olive oil. I use olive oil on my hair and it keeps it very soft and healthy. Try it and see what you think. Use it like you would any hair dressing - put a little in your palm, rub hands together and apply to the hair. Make sure you get all the hair. Then brush through.

Good luck sis!!

About a year and a half ago my hair was less than two inches long and is now almost mid back length. I stopped using grease, nothing touches my hair that contains petroleum or mineral oil cause they do nothing for hair at all, no heat touches my hair, and I have a relaxer, but I keep it in a few fat braids under a cap and wig. I use oil, like rosemary mixed with jojoba, oilve, or almond. I comb my hair every other week, but I use the crowning glory method http://www.growafrohairlong.com/index.html

I also use leave in conditioners like 911 mixed with water in a spray bottle almost every night then seal the moisture in with a hair oil and let it air dry before putting on a fitted satin scarf bonnet before going to bed. I do not sleep without using a fitted cap. I do not allow my hair to touch anything rougher than skin, that includes rubbing against my clothes, because anything harsher than silk and satin can dry out the hair and cause breakage. I only use large toothed combs when I do comb it.
I take vitamins, one is specifically for hair skin and nails, another is biotin, and then I take c and e, and sometimes Flintstones on days that I forget to eat...

There are a few ways, keeping in mind that the average person grows 1/2" of hair per month at best.

- Take biotin
- Take a multivitamin (or prenatal vitamin)
- Eat healthy sources of protein
- Drink water
- Eat fruits and vegetables
- Rigorous exercise
- Scalp massage
- Manipulate your hair as little as possible
- Don't color or relax your hair; if you do, always get it done professionally by a *reputable* cosmetologist
- Trim your ends regularly

A couple of hair growth products for Black hair (I haven't tried them personally):

Some really good answers here. I have waist length hair and swear by the hair products at
www.precioushue.biz
comes with instructions of "to do" & "not to do". I use all organic, herbal natural products. Silicone products killed the vitality in my hair, it was stuck around shoulder length & stopped growing till I started with these products. No heat or blowfrying though.

You'll probably want to ask a good hairstylist....
Mines told me, that hair grows in different types.... And gave them letter grades... A-D (I don't remember it all, she was trying to explain it simple since I was so little back then.)
I believe it's all in genetics though... If you're having difficulties trying to grow out your hair, maybe you should visit your doctor and ask about it a successful product. Or do what worked for me... Cornroll your hair and leave it in for a few months. (I never left my real hair cornrolled for that long, so I can't stand by that option, but the weave I had in was pretty cheap anyways.)

Hair loss affects both men and women. Here are some natural remedies that can help boost hair growth: https://bitly.im/aLVLN While genetics plays a role, there are other factors, including: hormonal imbalances, an underactive thyroid gland, nutrient deficiencies and insufficient scalp circulation.

As a doctor, i'm able to inform you that no longer something on the marketplace will make your hair strengthen quicker than your genes tell it to. Sorry, yet this is the fact, so do no longer waste hundreds of greenbacks on products that are basically 'snake oil'. In different words, they gained't supply.
