Having served in one of the BEST jobs...

I'd say it would be:
a) Hull Tech
b) non-rate assigned to deck division
c) non-rate assigned to mess / supply
d) permanent TAD as a buffer-tech

I was an enlisted aircrewman of the AW (Aviation Warefare Systems Operator) Rating for the first 10 years, and then an LDO (Limited Duty Officer) for my last 5.5.

It depends on your talents, likes and dislikes. Something that you may feel is the coolest job in the world may be regarded by somebody else as the worst job in the world.

The best thing you can do is give yourself an honest appraisal and pick something that you would enjoy doing for the next several years.

Don't even sweat this question by picking a job when you sign up. Going in and letting someone else assign you to a duty for 4 years is just being lazy.

Take the tests and see what you qualify for.

Personally I think it is a deck seaman cause you get all the jobs that nobody else will do. But at the same time you are the one who can change your rating by visiting other departments.
