Learn your lesson, Princess. Things cost money, and if you can't take care of them, you cannot have them. Figure out how to legitimately earn a new one. Mom might go for this, but don't be mad if she doesn't.

I agree that working and saving your money to buy yourself your very own phone is the best way to earn your parents' trust and learn the value of a privilege. Doing things around the house to get on your mom's good side is not going to do it. She'll see right through that and she will be convinced that you're not willing to learn your lesson. You have a very good mother. She's very smart to teach you this minor lesson in growing up and being responsible. Try to buy your own phone. It won't be as hard as you think and you'll appreciate it more. You'll also appreciate the value of money more as well. You'll see that your mother was right. You can get a good pre-paid phone for about $20. That's about one or two weekends of babysitting. Give it a try. You'll be glad you did and your mom will be so proud of you that she might even consider sharing in the cost of your minutes. Good Luck!

not sure if you have a job or not...but let's say you are not working...so money is very tight for you...Here in NY you can buy a pre-paid phone for as low as $15-20.00 and the refills are like $30.00 every two months...now again I am assuming you have some money saved...get a prepaid phone and use it for emergencies...you don't need top of the line or the internet, etc on it...you can still use it to call your friends while you are out...If you have a job and can afford and better phone maybe your mom can put you on a plan if you promise to pay it...if not than you have no choice but to get a pre-paid because there are no bills or contracts to worry about...

Let's see- get a job and earn the money to buy a new one?
How do you think Mom got the money to buy you the first one? She worked!
You were careless and you don't deserve another phone.

Get a job and buy your own. And you don't have to get a job at like a burger place, offer to do some things for your parents for some extra cash, mow lawns, babysit, etc.
There are lots of ways to earn cash.
A cellphone is a privilege, not a right, and therefore your parents have every right to deny you one.

God your mum is just like my dad. When i lose things he won't get me another one. I have to get it myself. Why don't you try being helpful around the house. If you show her that you really want a phone then do useful tasks that she will appreciate it. Work hard at school. That might work! Then if she does decide to buy you one, don't lose it

Ask her for a cheap pre-paid OR ask to work chores to make up for the purchase of a new one.
