If I offered $100,000,000 for anyone who believed in Santa Claus and I had some kind of machine that could tell if you were lying... no one would see a dollar except for little kids.

You've already answered your own question. They are faith-pushers,.

Their argument relies on faith in the absence of evidence, not a rational decision to accept something that can be proved, which is not faith at all but reason.

By the way, your bet is flawed. Someone can truly believe in something that is not real. I remember believing in Santa Claus when I was five years old, though he was actually my dad in a Santa suit, with a video camera.

James Randi has already one-upped your $100,000 wager. He offers $1,000,000 to anyone who can prove the existence of paranormal phenomena in a simple scientific experiment (see randi.org). Humorously, nobody wants to take the money because they are frauds, even the believers.

I agree with you 100%. Going through the motions is not the same at belief. Assuming God is omniscient, he knows whether you believe or not.

People are different. Some cannot grasp the fact that others do not believe in God in the same manner as themselves. Others cannot see how people can believe in an old man with a white beard who lives in the sky.

The faith itself is a gift according to Ephesians 2:8.
But God will give it to you if you are serious about finding him and look for him earnestly.

Hey, I know several ministries that could claim that Randi reward easily. The power comes from God though and is used for His ends, so maybe it wouldn't work - but you can go and see that God does miracles today if you investigate.

For $100,000,000 I'm sure people could make themselves believe... much like some force themselves to believe that their spouse isn't sleeping around or that everything's going to be ok. I have my doubts and independent thought and people at my former church didn't approve of that.

Well, you could choose to have an open mind about faith. But if you choose to close your mind then you refuse to even consider faith.
