I've been in relationships before, and they have either ended horribly or on my terms. The relationship I just got out of was not only my longest relationship, but it was with the first person I truly loved, and it didn't end on bad terms. He decided so suddenly (after the best few weeks we've ever had together) that he wanted to change who he was and start seeing girls to proove to himself and others that he's something he's not. I feel horrible because he still loves me, doesn't love this girl, yet he's made his mind up and wants to go through with this. So, since this is basically my first TRUE love, and we don't hate each other and still love each other... how long do you think it will take for me to feel better? Any suggestions on what I can do to help get over it? Please don't say keep busy or keep your mind off of it because I want to sort it all out and be miserable at the moment.

Its hard when people break up with you and end up moving on really fast. Did you do anything to make him feel like he needed to leave you? Well if he's gay and is going to try and be with a girl, it wont work. I know plenty of gay men who have tried this, but it only makes them miserable. You don't need this guy. I bet you are handsome and you seem very intelligent. All you really need to do is go out and have fun. You can hook up with other guys or maybe just start going out to clubs. You can have fun, don't try to think about him. I know its hard, but it'll only get better. Once you do really move on, you'll meet someone to treat you wonderfully.

It really depends. I was over one of my boyfriend's after about a year. The next . . . I'm still angry over certain things, and it has been almost five years.

It entirely depends on what you do to help yourself heal. You have to give yourself time. You have to allow for forgiveness.

As for your particular situation, it is definitely more difficult because you both still have feelings for each other. I don't want to say that you should keep yourself busy, but I do want to say that you should dive in to in the things you enjoy/hobbies. It definitely helps.

But if you WANT to be miserable, I'm not really sure why you are asking this.

For me it has additionally been some weeks and that i grew to become into with my boyfriend for 6 years. For you it would desire to be lots harder because of the fact it grew to become right into a marriage of two decades. i'm able to think of how puzzling that would desire to be. I advise you start up doing extra activities. case in point, I genuinely have been going to the gym extra many times, have been exercising extra and listening to music. at circumstances i'm reminded of him yet i'm happy i'm no longer with him and can't waste my entire existence thinking approximately why it befell. There are extra effectual issues available and each thing in existence happens for a reason. it particularly is in user-friendly terms some weeks so which you will nevertheless sense it in the subsequent month and you will continually seem back on it, yet with time you've gotten the means to circulate on. go out inclusive of your girlfriends, your loved ones and in basic terms stay your existence. you're actually not on my own and you will have the means to triumph over this.
