When rolling my hair, how do i know which way to face them to make it curl a certain way?i have med-long hair?

If you put the hair on top of the roller, and roll up, the curl will be inward, if you put the hair under the roller the curl will be outward. If you put the roller vertically, and use the same method above, the curl will be vertical.

If you want your hair to curl towards your face (curl under) you will want to curl the end of your hair down- towards your face; and vice versa for getting your hair to flip. You will want to curl your hair around the curler away from your face. If you want it to curl in a more spiral way, I would curl it so that you end up with the curler going vertically. this should allow your hair to fall in a more spiral curl.

Bear in mind that the longer your hair is, the heavier it is, and it might not hold a curl all day depending on what product you use and how well your hair takes a curl in the first place.
