"Are the angels able to protect you?"

Someone has suggested that it should be "puissent...", which would make it the more usual prayer that the angels should watch over you, which makes sense. As it is, the question sounds somewhat sceptical and also not quite right, as one would expect: "Les anges peuvent-ils vous protéger?"

in French we don't say "peuvent les anges vous protéger" but "puissent les anges vous protéger"
I don't know how you can translate the French subjonctif but this sentence means that you want the angels to protect the one you say this sentence to.
