For about a day now, the muscles in my upper leg [thigh, etc.] have been hurting when I walk or dance. It is that kind of good hurt, not really painful but just hurting. When I sit down it's fine, but then when I get up again, I have to walk strange until I get used to it again. Positive answers please? [I'm one of those people that if I hear something wrong with me could be a disease, I start feeling the side effects of that disease because I'm scared I might have it]

Are you active? Do you exercise a lot? You may have just pulled some muscles. Muscle strains are very common. But if this has appeared out of nowhere, you could be deficient in some kind of minerals, such as potassium. It's only been a day. Take a couple aspirin or Advil before you go to bed tonight. If the pain lasts longer than say, a week or so, then it would be time to see your doctor. But I really don't think it's anything serious. You might just be a hypochondriac -- that's a person who imagines he or she has some dreadful disease. In a situation like that, any little symptom becomes magnified. The way you describe fearing you might have a disease, sure makes me think of that possibility. And if people say it's all in your mind, they may be right. The mind does have an influence on the body -- it's called psychosomaticism.

See a massage therapist who can help loosen the knots in your muscles.

It would not hurt to see a chiropractor to make sure there is not something out of alignment that is helping cause the muscles to get tight.

For more information on muscles, pain and referred pain due to knots in the muscle fibers (called trigger points) read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies.
Totally treatable - it teaches how.

LOL, i'm the same way. sounds like a mild muscle strain. kind of just sore, right? take some anti-inflammatories (ibuprofen) and rest the leg and it should get better in a few days. if it doesn't, then call your doc. don't worry, though, you're fine.
