Bring kettel to the boil.

Fill a teapot with hot water. Swirl around and dump out.

Add two tea bags to the teapot. Pour in boiling water. Cover with a tea towel or set in a tea cozy. Steep. Pour tea into tea cup, add milk [and sugar, if using] stir and sip.

I totally agree with your method if you are in some sort of hurry but really the best cuppa comes from making it in a pot (especially a stainless steel one) not in the cup. I allow two tea bags even just for me. Give it a stir then let is stand a couple of minutes to brew. Always pour the tea into your cup or mug before adding milk. Making say half a pot for one person means you can add a little re-boiled water after the first cuppa and have a nice top-up. Cheers.

I have given lectures on this very thing. First you start with cold water, and bring the water just to a boil - do not boil. Having placed the tea bag in the cup, pour the water over the tea bag. Do not dunk the tea bag in the water; you want to release the flavor by taking the water to the tea bag. Depending on the tea your using determines the steeping time. Most people consider tea bags of herbs to be real tea; this is wrong. If you steep herbs to long or leave the bag in too long, it will become bitter. If you order herb tea at P. F. Chang's, they tend to leave the bag in the pot - yuck. Steeping for real tea (Orange pekoe, oolong, Earl Gray, darjeeling, etc.) can be from 3-5 minutes.

I hope you have been helped in some way, and that you can enjoy a good cuppa.

Usually 2 tea bags in the cup (or one left in for a few mins) boil the water, pour into the cup, squeeze the tea bag with the spoon, add skimmed milk, take out tea bag, a couple of busciuts and enjoy!

I do not drink only one cup of tea so, I have a 4 cup coffee maker that I use for tea only. I just put two tea bags in the basket and press the start button and voila!

depending on the tea I like to stir in a little bit of lemon juice or milk after I pour it in the cup and half tsp of sugar (splenda).

Actually we don't use packets of tea we buy the loose tea. One of the best is
Lee Valley orange pekoe. Do you have a Lee Valley there? We also have a
friend that goes to a Chinese store and buys the tins of green tea for us. What
we do is boil the water--however many cups that you need--in a microwavable measuring cup. When the water is boiled, we take out a few pinches of
the leaves and put it in the measuring cup, steep and strain into the cups. It
really is good. We usually have a cup each night.
