No. Sometimes the woman can be the dominant one, it just depends on your personalities and who is the one that chooses to be in charge.
I know I'm the dominant one in my relationship, but if my bf speaks up about something I'll listen. We have mutual respect for each other.

Call me crazy but I'm a bit old-fashioned and I think that males should be more dominant than females in a relationship once they have established a home together, especially if the female doesn't work outside the home, therefore doesn't contribute to the household in any way, shape or form.
I am referring to a childless couple here, by the way.
What do you think?
I know that ideally, relationships should be made of equals but sometimes, it just does not work out like that.
Besides, I also know that men like to wear the pants in a relationship and that they often feel emasculated, even intimidated, by a confident woman who would like to do the same.
I'm in that kind of relationship myself where my man has the final say upon every decision HE makes, which is rather strange for any outsider looking in because he is ten years my junior but what can I tell you?
He's always been the oldest sibling and was raised by a single parent (his mother); I think she laid a lot of responsibility upon him much too soon in his life and he had to grow up fast because of it, well at least faster than most kids his own age. He had to look after his younger sisters a lot, which wasn't fair and didn't allow him the freedom he needed in order to fully blossom as a young boy.
Now in his late twenties (he's 29), he has become domineering and controlling in his adult life and has never managed one single long-lasting relationship with any woman until I came along.
He often says: "Let me do the thinking around here!" or worse, "Your opinion does not matter to me!".
He should consider himself lucky that he has met such a mug as yours truly who doesn't really mind being bossed around, told what to do and tied up in bed because I secretly find it a turn on, in a weird kinda twisted way, to be controlled like this incessantly in every single area of my life.
He constantly tells me what to do, what to wear, what to eat, what to drink, what to watch on TV, what to say, how to act, etc.
I find it unbelievably, astoundingly amazing that I haven't kick his little behind yet but I guess I'm looking for a father figure, something I have been seeking throughout my life.
So, in conclusion, we both get what we want out of this unbalanced, unhealthy yet wonderfully dysfunctional relationship, see?
Hope this helps with your quest!

Nope - partners should know who is best to take the lead in certain circumstances but there should not be a domination thing going on - unless you're into that

No. There is no reason for anyone to be dominate. The best relationships are ones where you dont even consider power posturing.

No. Relationships based on a single dominance can lead to disaster. It's called co-dependence. He depends on her to need him, and she depends on him to guide her. It's not healthy. It can create a seperation that can lead to low self esteem and exhaustion.
Two people are still independent, even when they become involved in a relatinoship. They need to work TOGETHER as a team.
