I want to claim Married zero, what lines do I need to fill in on this worksheet and with what numbers. I'm completely baffled.

margaretfong2: You have it backwards. Claiming ZERO results in th maximum withholding and anyone can do so. Claiming EXEMPT results in zero withholding and is only allowed in specific cases.

To complete the W-4, ignore the worksheet (lines A - H) and go directly to the actual form. Place your name and address on line 1. Your SSN is line 2. Check 'Married on line 3. Write "0" one line 5 (the number of allowances you are claiming). Sign line 8. Leave everything else blank.

You can't enter 0 unless you have another job. Before the employer signs any paper work, he/she will look it over. The law states: If you have a working spouse or more then one job, figure the total number of allowances you are entitled to calim on all jobs using worksheets from only one form of W-4.Your withholding usually will be most accurate when all allowances are claimed on the W-4 for the highest paying job and zero allowances are claimed on the others.

I don't know the lines by heart but check off the married box, then put a zero '0' on all of the lines. that should be sufficient.
