My last renewal was in June and I paid £420 with Tesco, with the following:
Age 24
Male
Driving licence held for over 3 years (7)
No accidents/claims
No points
Ford Fiesta Flame 1.4,3 Door - 04 Reg
Parked in street
Annual millage: 10000
Occupation: Clerical
No claims bonus: 3 years

I bought my first car at 21 (I passed at 17) because of the insurance, whe said I was 20 the quote was £1200 when I said I was 21 it came down to £800.

Your insurance will not be less than £1000 (if you are lucky) but since you are female you have the advantage because it will be cheaper than males.

You in the UK? If so, try quotes for car insurance from Tesco - found them to be very competitive for young drivers, and you can pay the premium on a monthly basis too.
You would need to apply for quotes, as insurance premiums are based on many factors, age, driving experience, area in which you live, car, etc. You can usually obtain a small discount for actual applications done on-line too. Good luck - its all a bit baffling, but you'll get there in the end.

Being so young and your first year it will probably be pretty expensive for you. Do shop around, and do take advantage of the companies that offer discounts for females, may be worth it for you.
Go for a car with a small engine size to begin with too that also helps with the insurance costs.
Also nearly all insurance companies have a direct debit facility now.
One big tip I can give you is play one off against the offer asking them to beat or match it, and if they can only match it then ask why you should choose them over the other.
Hope I've not confused you.
Godd Luck and Happy driving.

As a teen, you will pay higher rates, if you are added to your parent's policy, their rates will rise, but would be cheaper then you on your own. Good grades gives you credit, so consider keeping your grades up. Your insurance is also based on the type of car you drive, whether turbo or sport are in the description, what size the motor is, what your credit history is like, how far you will be traveling per year, work or pleasure. Males under the age of 25 pay higher premiums than the norm, or teen girls. My daughter has a 1980 Honda Accord that she drives to work, her's is GREAT $117.00 yrly! We still question it, but it is cheap. Mine $400.00 yrly, fifteen yr old vehicle, good driving record. It depends on many things, including where you live, if the area has alot of crime or not. Good luck.

Mmmmm I wonder why you wish to know this question, as a new driver, an inexperienced driver always pays more than an experienced driver.

I guess a teenager who already drives will answer your question more accurately on their recent experience of purchasing insurance.

I am an experienced driver with maximum no claims bonus which mean I wouldn't pay as much as you will have to.

Mines very high, over 1k but thats because of the car i drive but when you are a first timer you only need a small, low insurance car.You will probably be looking at paying over £500 + at your age.

Most of the time new teenage drivers pay between $90-$150 a month for liability only, depending on the amount of coverage.
