We need good people in the coast guard too. If that is what you want then I say good luck to you and your family.

I would go with the Coast Guard. Except for WWII men in the CG never got sent overseas. The CG does a lot of good work: stopping drug trafficking on the high seas, rescuing stranded boaters, patroling navigable waterways always turns up something.
In the Marines, you learn to kill and destroy things.

Coast Guard is a fine division to join if it were possible to get stationed close to home that would be a nice bonus but it really comes down to what you want! Think it through and pick what is best for you in the long term.

Although the guard isn't part of the defense dept per se,
keep in mind it's still possible to be deployed.
That being said, the Guard is definitely an honorable choice
for service which I personally believe may have been a better
choice than my opting for the Navy.
Either of your choices make you ok it my book -- Thanx

Coast Guard is a much better life, and a lot more fun, spending summer's stationed on "Long Island" Beaches, 45 minutes from "Manhattan" is not exactly a HARD LIFE ! and it all counts as the same military service.

CG will in user-friendly terms take the utmost asvab scores, they in many circumstances have a waiting checklist to get in. it particularly is an incredible branch. The CG does not guarentee jobs different than specific severe fills. maximum coasties are available in as open enlistment for 2 years then attempt for an a college.

You are silly.
The Coasties get shipped all over the place.
If you are concerned with "family", then go Air Force. Not many jobs in there get deployed.
