congratulations on the new addition! hope he is well and good!

to help comfort your new baby at night wrap an alarm or a clock with a tick in a blanket and place this is in their bed. this will remind them of their mothers heatbeat and they wont feel so restless at night.

also when your baby gets a little bit older and you think he is responsible enough to stay home alone without causing a mini tornado in your front room, you might want to leave the tv on down low or even a radio - just so they have a little bit of back ground noise, it will be a little more comforting whilest your away.

if you are going to be out of your house for a long period of time - have someone check on your baby. this rule applies no matter what the age. some dogs get themselves into a way of holding the toilet in for upto 12 hours should there be noone to let them out and this just isnt good for them!

love your baby - no matter how many times you have a little accident on the floor - never rub their nose in it, their urine is filled with acid and will burn their poor wee noses.

good luck and enjoy your new best friend! x

Congratulations! I love these dogs!
Puppy tips. First have high quality food formulated for either large breed puppies or Giant breed pups. Follow the direction on the bag for the right amount of food for your puppy. Feed 3 times a day have plenty of water for he pup.
Make a new puppy appointment at your vets. This is very important. If your going to crate train this pup make sure it the right size for your pup. Have toys approved for the puppy. Lots of things for it to chew on.
Don't expect too much from your pup the first few days home with you it needs to get to know you and your family.
Set up a schedule for potty training. Pups should be taken out shortly after each meal and several times a day. Accidents will happen until he understands whats going on. Have paper towels on hand.
Enroll your pup in puppy kinder garden now he's the right age.If you just picked hi up from the breeder he may smell like the kennel or the other litter mates. Wait until tomorrow to give him a bath. Puppy shampoo or Baby shampoo is best. Don't get the soap in his eyes. Rinse him off very carefully and try not to get too much water in his ears. towel dry very well. Keep him warm.
Expect to be up at night for a period of time if he crys.
Love him to pieces and give tons of tummy rubs!
Enjoy your new pup!

Just make sure it knows that you are the boss!!! Large dogs can dominate a family if not put in there place at an early age. A strong but firm hand and proper obedience training in all dogs is a must for it to be a good social animal.

Make sure she has bedding, toys, collar and lead.
Get him vet checked and vaccinated.
Get him insured vet bill for large dogs are very expensive.
Book into puppy classes, socialisation and obedience training essential especially with large breeds. Lead training
Praise good behaviour and ignore bad behaviour, shouting when he wee's in the house will frighten him out of weeing in front of you so he do somewhere in secret.
Dog proof the house, remove valuables, wires, toxic plants etc,
Make sure he's on a reputable diet specially for giant breed puppies.
Dont over exercise him 15mins every 8 hours should be sufficient whilst hes growing.

Most important advice i can give is make sure you socilise your pup.It is so important to the future welfare and temperment of your dog and i can't stress it enough. Before your pups even had his jabs, you can carry him around places such as town, markets, even some shops like garden centers pet shops etc.If you socilise a pup well, then they grow up to be happy confident dogs who take everything in there stride.Good luck with your new puppy.

I wanted a Bullmastiff, but we opted for the free St. Bernard. Definately do obedience training, it has to know you are the boss. Have your family do the training as well so it will respect them. My St. Bernard is an obedience school flunky, but a lot of that is because we sent her to one instead of going through it with her.
Be ready for lots of slobber!!!
Best of luck.

Congrats on your new addition! I have two myself - a brother and sister/littermates.
The number one most important thing to remember (in my experiences) is that bullys are very independant & stuborn dogs. You will notice this much more in a few months. You have to be VERY firm in your houshold rules. If you are teaching them not to poop in the house - mean it. If you teach them not to bite - Mean it. They are very strong powerful dogs and take advantage of it. You must teach them that your home is YOUR den. They must learn to respect you and everyone else in the home. Each of my bullys litteraly out weighs me, but they know when i mean business. They also thrive on affection. They love to be loved - they love to make you happy and hate to upset you. If you really display those two emotions - it will help! Trust me.
