They both love to bring up things "Christians" did 400-1800! years ago and pretend like it's an argument.

Wow....atheists are far more lacking than Christians when attacked.
They are very lacking. I see ad hominems to and fro....
No real arguments, not even acknowledgement of their own hate mongering and double standards galore.

Well, let's see. They both have mothers and fathers (one of each, usually). If you tickle them, they laugh. If you cut them, they bleed. Most members of both groups have two eyes, two ears, one nose, ten fingers, and ten toes.
Personally, I'm getting a little tired of people seeing little dotted lines that divide the entire human race into - for the want of a better word - teams that are constantly battling with one another.
I'm especially embarrassed when the people doing it are either Christian or Buddhist, because I try, when I can, to explain what I believe - and when somebody who claims to hold the same beliefs as me pollutes the discourse with injections of rhetorical venom, I have to clean up the sh*t that they have created.
I'd much rather that Muslims and "atheists/agnostics" acted like jerks even more. It would make me seem reasonable by comparison.

We only have to look as far as the White House to find a recent example of Christian chicanery and hypocrisy. And let's not forget the Dover PA school board's attempt to force "Intelligent Design" (which is Creationism in sheep's clothing) in their city's publicly-funded schools. Fortunately for the children, they were tossed out by the voters.
We don't need examples from 400 years ago. All we have to do is pick up a newspaper.
BTW: "Militant atheist" is an oxymoron.

Christians do the same thing pertaining to Jews, only that happened 2007 yrs ago.
I have Protestant friends who belittle the Catholic church because of the greed of the Spanish conquistadores in the New World, how they tortured and enslaved the natives, and how they completely destroyed their societies. That happened centuries ago as well.
Ah yes, what about perverted priests who molest boys and get off scott free?
Christians are not immune to this.

There's a big difference, though. Atheists bring up things "Christians" did centuries ago in order to show the invalidity of the Bible and Religion as a whole.
Muslims bring up things "Christians" did centuries ago in order to justify their doing it today.

400 to 1800 years ago, as opposed to 'Christian' America's war on the poor of the Middle East today? Why aren't we at war against the governments in Iraq or Afghanistan? Why are we bombing and killing children?
What a fine Christian nation we are!

I'll bring up things Christians are doing now. What about denying science and trying to teach our kids creationism? What about covering up child abuse? What about persecuting homosexuals?
Christians and Muslims have a lot more in common. The both use an old book to justify the most ridiculous ideas, and often the most despicable acts.

well most christian's views and beliefs stemmed from and were molded out of the very thoughts and views and leaders which caused and started these wars, lady. If you look deep you'll see most haven't changed one bit. in the way people treat their neighbors if you know what I mean. In a way it is all very much still persecution.

Both know that Christianity isn't the only possible path that someone can follow and recognise that some Christians can be fascist bigots.

Oh I think that a lot of us can bring up more recent things:
- The invasion of Iraq (b/c God told Dubya to)
- Bashing gays (sometimes to death, and then demonstrating at their funerals)
- Declining academic standards in science
- Denying people treatment that could save their lives (stem cell research)

I guess the oppression by Christians of today IS noteworthy. The problem is that nothing has changed in Christianity since then. Kinda makes you think it all might happen again, eh?
