Go to http://flighttraining.aopa.org/

They will give you a free six-month trial membership and 6 free issues of Flight Training magazine.

I am really enjoying mine. I am almost ready to become a full member.

I know that if you purchase something at Sporty's they would send you a free poster. Other than that, go to local flight schools and ask them for old sectional or terminal charts or A/FDs. The covers (or other parts) might be removed (to send back to the FAA) but I'm sure that they'd be happy to give you old (i.e., out-of-date) stuff.

I know the flight school I fly out of also has old magazines.

I'd also check aopa.org for additional information. They might be able to help you get more free stuff also.

Good luck.

Have a look at www.ais.org.uk - you have to register your email address etc but you can download aerodrome charts, departure/arrival procedures and all sorts relating to UK aviation there, all for free. I just entered that I was a "saddo with a scanner and a motorcycle" and I had no problems getting full access to it.

I know that aerodrome charts are available somewhere from faa.gov but I haven't had the time to start looking yet!

go to some old airplane boneyards, they will have junk you can take. You can also go to the local airport and ask for old charts or books that are out of date. I usually just throw them in the trash.
