I'm not sure I follow... if you are referring to Christian-based holidays like Christmas or Easter, I think most Christians (myself included) could do with putting God back at the center of the celebration and not as a "do this so we can have fun" thing.

Most 'Christian holidays' are twisted versions of Celtic holidays. There's some debate in some town b/c the gov't there wants to change the 'Easter Bunny' to the 'Spring Bunny' and the 'Easter Egg Hunt' to a 'Spring Egg Hunt'. I think it's completely reasonable. They were both spring time symbols to begin with; people trying to make it a religious event took over.
If you're wanting more from the Holiday, have your own celebration traditions at home. Or, if you go to church, try to get them to do something special.
But, this is Ameica and there should be seperation of church and state. If anyone tries to force their religion (ironically who's celebratory tradition's are based on another religion), will only turn them against it. 'You can catch more flies with honey than vinegar.'

As it has been said, many christian holidays are based off of pagan holidays. More and more christians now a days are comming to terms with this and that is why they choose NOT to celebrate them. I mean, take Christmas. It is suposed to be a time to celebrate the birth of Christ HOWEVER the time of his birth is uncertian and there is leading evidence that says he was born in the spring putting the holiday in the terms of a christian holiday in a faulse light. I would say you could choose NOT to have a christmas tree since this is linked to apart of the pagan customs and has nothing to do with the birth of christ. As its been stated you can choose NOT to decorate for easter with the bunny image since again, the bunny has nothing to do with the holiday and choose to celebrate it threw prayer or at church threw surmons? You can also choose to change to another church that celebrates these holidays in a manner you feel suites you better. It is your choice as to how you celebrate any holiday and what it means to you. Don't do something because your told its the rite way, do it because you feel its rite.

If you're implying that because they are based on pagan traditions that somehow it makes the day less sacred, I disagree with you.
Our two biggest holidays (literally, from "holy day") are Christmas and Easter. Yes, both of these coincide with a "pagan" holiday. But the reasons for this integration were very intentional.
Instead of telling new converts to Christianity to give up all of their culture, early missionaries to the Celtic cultures decided to use the way in which God had already been revealing himself. Symbols--like early crosses, clovers, spirals, etc., were redeemed and took on new meanings--meanings that pointed to Christ. I think that's a heritage we can be proud of.
However, I do wish that most holidays were less commercial these days.

Different from what?
Also, there are few pure Christian holidays. Most were adopted from earlier religions.
Christ celebrated the Jewish holidays ... I wonder why Christians don't celebrate those rather than the ones adopted from other religions.

christians have commercialized ALL their holidays!
that way, they make More Money!
just like the brothers, the jews, who are only concerned about $$$MONEY$$$ !
Here's some more interesting facts about christians:
hell was created by christians - so shall they go there!
christians have KILLED more people in the history of humanity than any other group.
christians have persecuted millions of "non-believers" just because they DIDN'T believe in "christianity!
christians are by far the most brain-washed - brain-dead believers in the world today!
but, Here's the Solution, if you have any intelligence:
"religion is Spiritual fraud"; "religion is the Worse invention of humanity" - Jesus Christ
Create a private, personal, direct, divine relationship with Our Creator and save your Soul from religion.
Only with Our Creator's Love and Peace will we be Truely Free!
Without God, there is No Love; Without religion, there are No Wars!
Good Luck and God will Bless You too!

We could celebrate without prejudice. After all Jesus said to love our enemies. Holidays are just days not written in stone. Father God would rather we celebrate Jesus and worship Him everyday than just on days we humans designate.

yes, how about in a non-pagan way?
actually, as a pagan it doesn't offend me in the least that your traditions and holidays stem from ours. i love that my kids can celebrate samhain, yule, imbolc and ostara at school!
for those who don't know, samhain is now called halloween, yule is now called christmas, imbolc is groundhog day and ostara is called easter.
the kids love it too. they usually take some information to share with the class about how the holidays started and some craft ideas too.

I think just by celebrating and remembering Christ and being with family is what matters. When you look at all the Jewish feasts in the OT, I think God likes family parties.
