I had a tattoo done over a week ago, the top layer of skin is now peeling off and I'm losing color. My tattoo is all black (just outline and the only color is a red heart which is filled in and is about 1 inch in size) I am wondering if when I go get it touched up if it will cost the same or around the same as when I first had it done. I don't want to go to the same shop where I had it done because the guy did a lousy job on the heart and I need it fixed.

I wasnt planning on getting it touched up so soon. Fixing the heart well I definitely want to have that done once It's healed completely.
As for taking care of it.. I have not picked at it, been leaving it alone as I was told. Used dial soap to wash and have been applying lotion with oat extract onto it.

The color only appears to fade due to scabbing in the skin. As your skin heals over the next month or so, you will notice the color coming back and will appear about 80% as bright as when you first had it done. To get a touch up should be less, especially if only a small portion of the tattoo will be fixed.

Just because it is fading does not mean that you are not taking proper care of it. It could be a reaction that your skin has with the ink. The best thing to do is go talk to your tattoo artist, they may have to do touch up work. Once you get it fixed, if that is what you choose, make sure that you follow the care instructions provided to you by the artist. Also, always, always put sunscreen on it if your tattoo comes in contact with the sun. The fastest way to fade your tattoo, old or new, is to let it come in contact with the sun.

Wait until it's fully healed to see what it really looks like. You might not need a touch up.
If you do, the place where you got it done should do 1 touch up free. If you go somewhere else, prices will vary.

Regardless of its healing and time that is only a question your artist themselves can answer. Good artists guarantee their work as long as you follow their specific aftercare instructions. This usually means touchups and fixit are free for the first 6 months (after that the entire piece has to be redone or it wont match). However not all studios are that considerate and osme may charge you anything form the shop minimum and up.
Wait until the entire piece has healed and then go back to show them. They will be able to tell you their rates and opinions.

It may be true that the guy did a lousy job onyour tattoo, but sometimes the sharpness of the color depends on how you took care of it while healing.. if you tried to get rid or peel off the scab then expect your tattoo have a lighter color. Most of the times, they did not use a very good ink or they did not ink it deeper enough on your skin. i have a tattoo over 7 years now and the color of it still the same. if you are thinking about getting a touch up try to ask people you know who has tattoo and try ask them about their tattoo, how long they had them. if you think their tattoo looks fine then ask them where they had it from.

Wait until after your tattoo is fully healed. The color starts to pop after the healing is complete.

the first tattoo which i got like 6 months ago has faded as well and it cost me $120 but the guy who did it messed it up its crooked and the lines are not straight so i will not go back to him to fix it so i went somewhere else and they charged me $80 to pretty much do the whole tattoo over so i think it just depends on where u go but good luck

Don't get it touched up! It's way too soon I have 8 tattoos and from my experience I can tell you its normal for that top layer to peel. Give it some time it'll be fully restored but in the meantime don't pick at it and by you some A&D Ointment, don't rub it in at night and cover it with gauze and medical tape if you are wearing tight clothes so it doesn't irritate.

Typically the shop will give you a free touch up... if you fon't want to use that shop though, prices vary from place to place, go in a reputable shop and ask what they will charge.
